Someday. Some Day. Day. Today.
How often do you think of a day or time in the future when you can ___ (fill in the blank)?
Most of us can answer this question fairly quickly. Why is that?
Before you answer that, let me redirect your focus. Why do we have the answer to what we’d do someday but don’t give ourselves permission to make today our someday?
My writing today was slated to work on my next book. Yet all morning, this blog idea kept interrupting. It wouldn’t let up. So, I’m following where my gut is leading and writing this blog. Starting the chapter ideas for the next book will be there when what’s calling me to write is written.
I used to think that things happened for a reason.
I no longer believe this. In fact, I refuse to. As an impactful example, I cannot accept that there was a reason for my husband to die of cancer.
I have learned, however, that meaningful coincidences do happen.
I’ve been going through the notebook and folder holding ideas for blog posts. Recently, I found something that illustrates my thoughts on meaningful coincidences, which is why this blog topic has kept nudging at me.
On April 19th, 2022, I wrote, for the first time, the following statement in my gratitude and affirmation journal:
“I am not waiting for someday; someday is here, and I will strive to thrive in it. Today is my someday.”
Interestingly, I started writing Morning Pages a little over a year before I wrote this entry. Morning Pages is a practice of freehand writing three pages of free-flow thoughts, ideas, and, for me, emotions. What comes to mind goes onto the page.
Through the 13 months of his cancer battle, I was my husband’s caregiver. 13 months after Peter passed, I started writing my Morning Pages. And then, almost 13 months later, I wrote an affirmation that shifted something inside me. “Today is my someday.”
OK, Wow. I’m a curious person. I just looked up the meaning behind the number 13. I just had my socks knocked off, and tears of astonishment flowed. The number 13 symbolizes death, but it also symbolizes rebirth to the spirit, and it’s a symbol of new life.
I think I just ran smack into meaningful coincidence. Even more, God’s answer to a question I wasn’t even aware I asked.
I strive to live with compassion, hope, faith, and love. I also deeply desire to affirm, inspire, and encourage you in your journey by sharing my own. To that end, today, I am giving you a nudge—a compassionate and maybe not-so-gentle nudge to take the critical step in listening to, respecting, loving, and believing in yourself.
My friend, today, take one action toward creating the life YOU love and thrive in. Make someday today.
Xoxo,
Judy
