No Words

I have no words.

Ironic, don’t you think, since I am a writer?

But I’ve found myself writing or saying this statement quite a lot recently.

Words have power – I know I have much more to say about that in later blogs – but for today’s blog, the lack of words conveys the intensity of emotion, especially gratitude.

The thoughtfulness, kindnesses, compliments, revelations, and encouragements extended to me through notes, emails, texts, and conversations recently have touched me deeply. Hence, no words.

What has struck me has been the unexpectedness of the messages, in whatever form, and their genuineness.

As nurturers and caregivers, I think we are far more comfortable – oh, there it is, there is the Ah-Ha – with thinking and doing for others instead of receiving and accepting from others. And when something is being extended, sincerely offered, we are unsure of how to react to the emotions that unexpectedly present themselves.

Especially when these messages are about you – directly about and for you.

It’s like that perfect gift, the one you hadn’t asked for or even indicated you wanted, maybe hadn’t even allowed yourself to think of or hope for.

And yet, someone thought of you and gave you this beautiful gift.

How lovely. How remarkable.

So maybe the best and most accurate words are indeed “I have no words” because they most accurately describe the impact of a precious gift. 💙
